I like the intention but in my glass-half-empty pessimism, I fear VC firms will interpret "Diversity" the same way the government interprets "minority" when awarding contracts, i.e., SE Asians, Asians, Hispanics, and white women. They will come out looking good by the numbers, except among black businesses, pledge to do better, then do nothing 😉 If Newsome wants that black vote for a rumored 2028 run, he needs to be specific. But unless we demand it, we'll be fighting more "preferred"
groups for the same slice of pie.
