Original Cocktail Competition - January 2024 - Beet & Lemon

Name: Beet-Berry Mezcalita

Scent: Definitely smells smoky, which is exactly what I was going for.

Flavors: I thought that the beet would be prominent in this creation, but combining it with blueberries in a syrup form was perfection. The blackberries were a bit tart, but the syrup balanced that out. The Mezcal was strong, but not overpowering.

Mouthfeel: Rich and earthy mouthfeel, with a sweet and juicy burst of blackberries and a spicy and smoky kick from the Mezcal.

The goal is to create an original cocktail every month based on the announced ingredients. Ingredients for January were: Beet and Lemon.

52 Weeks of Cocktails | Week 04 Inspired by Movies/TV | The Godfather

The history of the Godfather cocktail is a bit mysterious, as no one knows for sure who invented it or when. However, some sources suggest that it was inspired by the popular 1972 movie "The Godfather" starring Marlon Brando, who allegedly enjoyed this drink. The cocktail became popular in the 1970s, when strong and sweet drinks with amaretto were in fashion. The Godfather is a simple but sophisticated mix of Scotch whisky and amaretto liqueur, usually served on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass.
