Legit made my day reading. Thank you for showing him that his story matters
Had a powerful moment recently w/ artist Gary Tyler hearing his story & meanings behind his quilts.
Gary was wrongfully convicted of murder in Louisiana at age 16, sentenced to Death Row & remained in prison for 42years.
His quilts include self-portraits, frustration when his pardon was first rejected, addtβl snapshots from prison & other stories he wanted to share.
Gary Tyler was finally released in 2016 at age 57. I was so sad and ANGRY but Gary was so calm and peaceful. βDonβt be sad, this is a celebration!β He said. βI understand it now. It humbled me but they couldnβt break meβ
