Had a powerful moment recently w/ artist Gary Tyler hearing his story & meanings behind his quilts.
Gary was wrongfully convicted of murder in Louisiana at age 16, sentenced to Death Row & remained in prison for 42years.
His quilts include self-portraits, frustration when his pardon was first rejected, addt’l snapshots from prison & other stories he wanted to share.
Gary Tyler was finally released in 2016 at age 57. I was so sad and ANGRY but Gary was so calm and peaceful. “Don’t be sad, this is a celebration!” He said. “I understand it now. It humbled me but they couldn’t break me”
I pray for the day that we can max out on self-confidence/love w/o downing other people. Especially in the areas of gender/sexual preference.

Yup. Damn near everything about working 3rd shift is set up to be a major drain on your body especially if you allow it to be. Not to mention this world is just not tailored for a night worker. So there's construction and lawn mowing happening when you're trying to sleep. And appointments will usually be set up for the am. It's just not really healthy long term for most. Now of course, some people love that ish tho

I think we should revisit the influencer marketing thing, idk who we could get to socially endorse the app, but I think someone with a large following being here would influence others to join. Has to be someone that make sense for the app though.

Although I haven’t been blurting much, I’m still here…lurking like some of y’all do..lol
@VadaBee had brought up some good points regarding engagement and interactions on the timeline. We all know that there’s a lack of it even though we have a lot of cousins that’s signed up.
Some cousins had given a few solutions and those were taken into consideration. We have tried different ways to increase engagement but as you see, many don’t care for it. Three years later and it’s the same thing…folks get excited for a hot second, then leave, then forget. Since there’s hardly any drama on here, folks don’t want any part of it.
It’s the same issue that other Black owned networks exclusive to us, experience..even before we launched Blkem. And it’s the issue that many continue to see.
Sooo…we’re going back to the drawing board and revisit some of the points made by some of you. We’re also going to look at alternatives.
Exclusivity should increase interactions but when you have many that don’t care for it or they would be involved, then we have to figure out if we’ll be able to continue this trend for another 3 years.
Compromising is not the goal so if anyone have some unorthodox solutions, send me a DM.

Today marks my 1st time ever celebrating Kwanzaa. Nana tried to teach me when I was little, and I remember vehemently rejecting it because I saw it as "instead of" Christmas." Self reflection instead of presents? FOH Nana!
