what happens when you mix rupauls drag race, goth aesthetic, and goth music? you get the awesome drag queen aja and some of her work!

https://youtu.be/eAbkTbQF18M

aja is a drag queen who was a contestant on rupuals drag race and rupauls all stars drag race. aja is a black person who is queer and does drag performance. recently they have been focusing on music and created an always alternative reference, music video look, lyrics, or sound. here i'm showcasing the tunes created with a primarily goth focus!

this is a new music theme of my channel that's a long time coming. i'm finally going to start sharing the music that gets me through, keeps me alive, and hears me when i feel i'm at my lowest and no one can hear me.

https://youtu.be/wTTMnznlK7o

but fret not it's nothing negative here or too dreary. i'll be sharing 3 songs from each band. and this series is actually going to be non goth music as i use goth music for fun.

marissa nadler is a long time bae of mine and deserves all the praise and love. imo she is easily goth music.

this is something i don't see talked about a lot. and all for the focus of social media discussing punk and how siouxsie sioux is so influential with a lot of goths i find it surprising social media rarely brings up this particular part of her and it being apart of their history.

https://youtu.be/mhyxBZjgaPU

what are your thoughts on it? should it stay burried? does it mean nothing and her music still slaps no matter what? would an apology or recognition of now knowing better make it all up for it? is it no big deal because the focus was to point out in a shocking way how bad nazis are?

i just kinda threw this out there. a few months back i created a what gets me through series...but i didn't explain why or what the purpose of it was.

so this is a short breakdown! hope you get some more insight into why i have it on my channel. :)

one of my favorite albums that isn't technically goth is misery is a butterfly by blonde redhead. while not goth it has ties to the community and their themes are often dark and existential and defiantly in similar veins. learn a bit about this kick ass band, their ties to the goth genre, and take a listen to some of the awesome songs. also check out the album artwork it's kick ass!

i did the goth/industrial nightclub tag.

witness, fred being disrespectful again. me talking about how this topic gave me impostor syndrome and how i overcame it. trigger warning about the real reason i started alcohol and when i changed that pattern. clubs that have come and gone in#Houston texas. my fashion sense.#hurricaneharvey how clubbing as a single and solo person works. and what sort of music gets me going.

time stamping the trigger warning. if you want to skip honest conversation of destructive behavior that can be upsetting, skip: 14:05-16:46

while i live in houston, i'm a blessed texan that has a normal working house during the snow so i can focus on other things like blkem!

ya'll, i've done 100 posts on this platform.

coming back to this neglected series on my youtube channel. let's go back to the tv goth representation series. this time we'll be talking about what we do in the shadows. and we'll also focus on the black indigenous and people of color in the show as well.

this part of the 90s black goth babybat music series i go over a very famous collab. it's kinda heavy on the gothic themes compared to some of the other episodes in the series as is. even though it's not a goth music subgenre. in spite of that, it is defiantly 100% hip hop meets rock.

Another installment of 90s rnb/hip hop songs and music videos that were heavy leaning in the gothic aesthetic. This time we'll look into TLC's No scrubs and talk about how this video is very EBM/cyber goth visually and could've been a way young black goths could get interested, introduced to, or inspired to join the gothic scene in an unusual way.

this youtube video has been going viral for awhile. while it's not 100% goth, it is african people dressing goth and being punk and counter culture. i still feel it's fit for my focus of this youtube channel. Learn about the lady behind this mini documentary, two bands that are being interviewed, and get TONS of visual representation and ideas of how to combine being black and darkly dressed.

jordan pelee's movie us has recently came out. jordan continued to bring his unique mesh of black culture to the horror genre of art by combing a hip hop song with horror themed edits.

here i give a bit of history to the song i got five on it, the samples this song originally used to give the full tree of sampling, and showcasing bits of the new remixed version of this song. i take the time to share why this is related to black goths.

i also give some back history to jordan pelee and his past works and hollywood resume.

this is the first music video i'm going to discuss and dissect in my series of 90s hip hop/rnb videos that were goth inclined. i discuss why i feel this falls into a gothic category, the impact it had pre internet on me and possibly other black people who were starting to find the goth subculture....and also provide visuals of how it could be a gateway to the subbculture for others.

this has been a long time coming. i've been revolving around how growing up pre internet pre words and language and culture there was influence that brought me to the goth culture as an isolated and uneducated black youth in a family and area that was far from sub counter anything.

https://youtu.be/VlmEdgYzlsU

the 90s rnb and hip hop world had a moment in time that was very in all purposes dark gothic and creepy but never connected to the culuture.

let's get this theme going! coming into goth doesn't just show up in one way!!!

Thanks for watching,
